We are recruiting for a young person to be trained in all aspects of Mechanical Engineering over a 4 year Apprenticeship scheme linked to NVQ Level 3.
Originally a manufacturer of ATE in circuit test (ICT) fixtures, as the UK electronics market evolved, Peak evolved and grew over the last 30 years, with the majority of our business now in delivering automated test solutions and high end functional fixtures. Peak manufacture a comprehensive range of test equipment, from simple test boxes used by sub contract manufacturers to stand alone high specification test racks and systems used in the aerospace and defence industries.

Training will cover basic skills:
Working with different engineering materials
Using measuring equipment and various hand tools
Reading drawings for measurement purpose & quality
Based on a development plan there will be the opportunity in working with a full range of workshop machinery, CNC machines + manual mills, lathes and saws.
At the end of the four year period, the candidate should be a competent miller and turner.
Mon – Thurs (8.5 hours) Friday (4.75 hours) = 38.75 hours per weekCore hours to work are Mon – Thurs (9am-4pm) Friday (9am-12pm) Employees are given the flexibility to work 8.5 hours a day, providing they ensure they work their core hours.
A minimum of A*-C (9-4) in Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills equivalent
Basic skills and understand of a machine shop environment are preferable, yet not critical.
A hobby / interest in Mechanics, Enthusiasm, Drive, Willingness to learn, Patience
Establish a solid career with Peak Production as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Engineering
Prior to shortlisting your application for any vacancy, your qualifications will be checked. The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is currently £3.50 per hour from 1st April 2017. This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over, in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent training.
