Detailed Job Description

The role will include the following duties;

  • Approval of incoming materials and documentation by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests and rejecting unacceptable materials. Approving or rejecting outgoing product by confirming specifications are to works orders.

The key tasks for the role are;

  • Producing documentation detailing customer requirements including; asbestos, CoC, Green Passport and dimensional reports.
  • Report document test and inspection results through data inputting in to the appropriate goods in database.
  • Maintain calibration of measuring and monitoring tools ensuring recalibration records are kept up to date.
  • Assist in setting up test samples for research and development or warranty investigation. Tests may include; pressure, immersion and dimensional. Support other members of the Technical Team with test projects.
  • Produce rejected materials and product reports in an appropriate format.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

GCSE’s Maths & English grades A-C

Skills required

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and data sheets
  • Efficient keyboard and computer software skills including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to concentrate under pressure

Personal Qualities

  • An interest in engineering and quality control
  • Ability to work within a manual role, with a requirement for some heavy lifting using appropriate cranes, pallets and trucks.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become a valued member of the Technical Team on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Additional Information

Training provided

You will receive a Technical Support qualification at a Level 3 within the Engineering and Manufacturing framework.
