This vacancy is for an Corporate Services Apprentice based in Blackburn, Lancashire. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to undertake valuable work experience whilst gaining on the job qualifications.
At PM+M Chartered Accountants, their team includes professionals in accountancy, tax, corporate finance, wealth management, and technology as well as business sector specialists. Their 88 team members are split between three offices in Blackburn, Burnley and Bury.

You will be given full study support towards the AAT qualification and then have the option to go on to a further professional qualification ·
You will carry out a variety of accountancy and audit assignments for clients in accordance with the firms procedures and good professional practice, reporting to the relevant assignment manager ·
You will assist in audit assignments when required, both in the firms offices and at clients premises ·
You will be expected to communicate regularly the progress of work which has been delegated ·
Ideal candidates will have strong IT skills to enable the completion of data analysis and interrogations of computer systems
Maths and English and 3 other GCSE’s at Grade B/5 or above, Good ICT skills
An accountant requires a range of skills to do their job.
These include: Numerical competence -There’s no need to be a Maths genius but you must be comfortable with numbers and have a Maths GCSE or equivalent to do the AAT Qualification. Communication skills -You need to be able to confidently communicate technical information to others with no accounting knowledge. It is important to be able to communicate clearly at all levels of the business. Team player -Accountants often work in teams. You need to work well with others to get and deliver information which makes it easier to do your job. Interpersonal skills -You must be able to interact with others. Building relationships with people in the business is important as they will help you carry out your role. Problem solving -In accounting you will often need to determine the best way to solve a problem. You may encounter challenges so it is important you find a way to overcome obstacles. Commitment and motivation -Accountancy training is not easy. Your employer will be investing time and money in you so you need to demonstrate you are committed to learning and show you are motivated to succeed. Reporting skills -Accountants need to prepare statistical and written reports. Report writing is a skill you will develop as your career progresses. Attention to detail -You have to pay attention to small details as miscalculations can lead to misinterpretation. Your training will teach you to take a methodical approach. Time management -Accountants often work on several projects at a time so you need to manage and prioritise your work load to meet goals and deadlines. Professionalism -Accountants have a responsibility to operate professionally and ethically. This includes how you treat others, your behaviour in the work place and your work performance, including discretion with sensitive information. Business awareness -Accountants work in all business areas so they need to be aware of what is happening in the business environment around them. You need to keep up to date with current issues and any changes in industry regulations.
Well-developed interpersonal skills
The opportunities in the world of business are endless. Many apprentices start in business administration, customer service or accountancy, which are great stepping stones into lots of exciting careers. You can go on to specialise in a particular field and into management. You’ll find people who started in administration working in all professional areas and at all levels. If you’re good at IT, have an eye for detail and enjoy working with others then a Business Apprenticeship could give your career a great start.
For the successful candidate there will be the opportunity for progression within the company, and there is potential for the right candidate to continue their studies to qualify as either a Chartered Accountant or Chartered Certified Accountant.
AAT (Association Accounting Technicians), Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting.
Key Skills/Functional skills at level 2 if appropriate.
