Description
This position is within our Joinery Department and for someone who is looking for a Joinery Apprenticeship. Ideally we are looking to engage with apprentices who have had some experience either through part time work or volunteer work, however this is not completely necessary. Our Joinery Apprenticeship will include a range of duties based around growing your skills and developing your knowledge. Areas of training will include the following:
• High quality maintenance & refurbishment projects.
• Material Selection.
• Cutting.
• Shaping.
• Measuring.
• Final Fitting.
• Planning.
• Working From Drawings/rods.
The training will be provided within the Joinery Department which provides services to the Estates 500 strong property portfolio and the mansion of Tregothnan itself. This is a great opportunity to work on some of the county’s most historic and beautiful buildings and within a modern and diverse joinery workshop. We are located in a remote area but there is a bus service to Tresillian. If you do not have your own transport then Tregothnan may be able to provide a car share from Tresillian, support for the Wheels to Work Scheme.

Ability to work under pressure, knowledge of basic hand tools, be forward thinking and practically minded.
No specific qualifications are necessary for the Apprenticeship.
Below is an exhaustive list of units which can be undertaken some are mandatory and some are optional which the apprentice chooses in relation to their work activities:
- Conforming to general health safety and welfare in the workplace.
- Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace.
- Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace.
- Setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace.
- Manufacturing routine architectural Joinery products in the workplace.
- Marking out from setting out details for routine architectural joinery products in the workplace.
- Producing setting out details for routine architectural joinery products in the workplace.
Polite and personable, professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard working, eager and willing to learn.
The position may turn into employment after the apprenticeship allowing for a more specialised area within the organisation to be taken on. Should the apprenticeship not lead to employment by the Estate then full support and guidance for applying for other jobs will be given.
GCSE Maths, English and ICT and C Grade or above would be desirable
