Description

A great opportunity for an apprentice groom to assist and travel to competitions and shows. The yard also deals with holistic work for animals.

General yard duties include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Feeding/hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing and rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground inc. horse walker, long reining and pessoa training
  • Holding for the vet/farrier/dentist
  • Handling competition horses (dependent on ability)
  • Competing (dependent on ability)

Experience with horses is essential
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training provided through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training

  • Confident and ambitious to progress within horse care
Possibility of accommodation and to take own horse - TBC - flexible hours
