Chartwell Trust are seeking MULTIPLE Apprentice Support Workers for its homes Barkby Road, Syston - LE7 2AJ

Carers strive to be sensitive to the Residents’ ever changing needs.

Such needs may be medical/therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social. Residents are encouraged to participate in the development of their individualised Care Plans in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued. You would be expected to carry out various duties which will include:

• Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring Clients retain their comfort and dignity

• Closely monitor Clients who may be confused and / or who have behavioural problems

• Helping out in the unit to support your Team to cover holidays, absence etc.

• Pay particular attention to assisting Clients who have limited mobility, or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided

• Ensure the Care Centre’s resources are used appropriately

• Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty, in line with the Care Centre’s disposal of waste policy

The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable people and their families, Good listening skills, An empathetic approach to clients, The ability to gain the trust of clients and their families and to build good relationships with vulnerable people, The ability to carry out practical and domestic duties, Good problem solving abilities, Team Work, Good written communication skills.
Minimum of Entry Level 3 in Maths and English, GCSE in Health would be desirable

Level 2 Adult carer

Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standards has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role.

This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English. Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.

Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
