Detailed Job Description

Location: near Green Park Station, London

Through the Christie’s Operations Apprenticeship scheme, as well as enjoying the hi-octane pace of working in the world’s most prestigious Auction House, you will also have the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification. With over £1 billion of artwork passing through Christie’s Headquarters in King Street every year, the skills you learn and the contributions you will make will open a multitude of opportunities, not just within the Art market but within Operation Departments across other sectors.

Working Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Learn Christie’s core values and how they link to the service culture
  • Know the internal policies and procedures, as well as relevant and current legislation, so that you understand the structure of the auction fine art market
  • Learn the systems, processes and technology to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently
  • Support the wider company, understand your responsibilities and the impact of your actions on others
  • Strong awareness of overall business activities and ability to communicate relevant information effectively
  • Engage with various areas of Christie’s by listening and responding in a way that builds rapport and trust, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise and work to meet deadlines
  • Manage expectations, recognising and knowing how to adapt style to be highly sufficient

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • GCSE Mathematics grade C-A* (or 4-9) or level 2 functional skill.
  • GCSE English (Literature or Language) grade C- A* (or 4-9) or level 2 functional skill.

Skills required

Good knowledge of IT, including all Microsoft packages Google doc/sheets.

Personal Qualities

  • Good eye for detail and an organised and reliable approach to work
  • A good sense of humour and a proactive, positive attitude
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
  • A genuine interest in art is a plus!

Future prospects

A full-time opportunity may be available if the candidate excels in the role.

After your Business Administration apprenticeship progress into HR, Recruitment, Sales, Marketing & PR, Real Estate, Personal Assistant, Office Management, Business Management. Most of the above can be completed in a higher-level qualification.
