This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Apprentice Commis Chef at Letchworth Hall, where you will be supported and supervised by the Head Chef
We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Chef to join our team. The successful candidate should be ambitious and keen to learn.
You will receive extensive training and guidance from our experienced head chef.
We have an ambitious team and are looking for someone who is hard working and wants to develop themselves.
We have an excellent reputation for producing top quality dishes .
Prepare, cook and present food to company specification.
Keep kitchen clean, tidy and hygienic at all times.
Work safely around kitchen equipment and monitor and deal with any maintenance issues.
Keep up to date with new products & menus.
Adhere to company policies, procedures and licensing laws.
Participate and contribute at all team meetings.
To learn and understand how to carry out basic functions in every section of the kitchen providing the opportunity to experience, consider and value each section with a view to choosing an area where you feel most inspired.
As an Apprentice you will be included on a Commis Chef Apprenticeship. Your qualification will be delivered by an award winning training provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Regional Trainer coming to visit you on a monthly basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

Be able to work methodically to prioritise tasks ensuring they are completed at the right moment and to a required standard.
Measure dish ingredients and portion sizes.
Demonstrate a range of craft preparation and basic cooking skills.
Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment at all times and complete kitchen documentation as required.
Follow instructions to meet targets and effectivley control resources.

Personal qualities:
No specific qualifications required however must have a good understanding of English and be able to speak English.
Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standards has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.
Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
