Description
The first 12 months of this exciting apprenticeship will involve spending time in all of the departments of a modern dealership in order to gain a full understanding of how a dealership operates and the career opportunities available.
The successful apprentice will develop product knowledge and skills on this fast paced fast track programme which will lead to a variety of career opportunities.
A snap shot of the first 12 months is detailed below;
Sales Department
- Identify and develop prospects with the aim of maximising sales and profitability and finance.
- Talk and listen to customers to build rapport and understand their requirements in full.
- Ensure all vehicles presented for the part exchange are appraised in the correct manner, agreeing a purchase price with the sales manager.
- Agree appropriate delivery arrangements with the customer.
- Understand and apply the Financial Conduct Authorities compliance framework as part of the sales process.
Parts Department
To satisfy all parts customer requirements and increase all aspects of the parts departments business through structured direct selling.
To be totally conversant with all procedures and routines within the Parts Department.
- Ensure a prompt and courteous manner when dealing with customer enquiries, selling the benefits of our products and services, adhering to all trading terms, discounts, and procedures for handling cash, cheques and accounts.
- Assist with stock checking as may be required, ensuring accurate information is maintained on computer systems.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all internal and external customers updating prospect records as necessary.
Administration Department
Provide administrative support to the dealership sales team, ensuring efficient processing of new, used and corporate vehicle orders.
- Liaise with the Sales team and Vehicle Supply to process vehicle orders in line with the sales order, demonstrator or showroom stock requirements.
- Complete all pre-delivery related administration for insurance and tax purposes.
- Liaise with the Sales Manager and ensure correct authorisation of new stock ordering.
Service Department
To plan and co-ordinate service activity to meet customer requirements and maximise workshop utilisation and profitability.
- To understand and qualify the customers service/repair requirements.
- Update customers on progress including additional work/costs.
- Check loan car on return and hand over the customers car.

GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 (C) or above desirable but not essential.
Intermediate Apprenticeship in Customer Service
This apprenticeship is delivered through work based learning, this means that all training is done at the workplace eliminating the need to attend college. The successful candidate will be allocated an assessor who will visit the site every 4-6 weeks and deliver all of the training to gain the qualification and provide the resources to complete work between visits.

Full training will be given in this challenging and varied role to ensure that the apprentice has the skills and expertise to be considered as a permanent member of staff.
Once you commence at the Retailer, further induction training will be supplied by the Retailer. You will also receive visits and other training from the Learning Skills Partnership representative. Working Week - 40 hours per week which may include Saturdays as standard and occasional Sundays This apprenticeship will involve working weekends and may involve working in the evenings. This is agreed locally on a rota basis. It will be hard work but it is a great environment to work in. It offers opportunities for reward and progression. Please do not contact the Retailer directly.
