Newcastle University is a public research university in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North-East of England. The university can trace its origins to a School of Medicine and Surgery, established in 1834, and to the College of Physical Science, founded in 1871. These two colleges came to form one division of the federal University of Durham, with the Durham Colleges forming the other. The Newcastle colleges merged to form King’S College in 1937. In 1963, following an Act of Parliament, King’s College became the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

To support various finance related activities on a rotational basis as a means of training, knowledge building and development, and to cover such roles as and when required.
Periods of training will be undertaken in the following areas:
Management Accounting – Central and Faculty areas
Revenue and payments
25 days holiday

Should have a minimum of 5GCSEss at grade A or B (including Maths and English) new grades 5 to 9.
Good numeracy, literacy and communication skills coupled with a positive attitude are essential.
Be prepared to work towards anaccounting qualification e.g. Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
Excellent written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills.
Good IT skills.
Good team player.
Applicants must be very enthusiastic, well organised, self-motivated and punctual.
A flexible and hardworking attitude are essential. Must also have a genuine desire to work and learn in a Finance based role.

You will cover a range of complex accounting tasks, including maintaining cost accounting records and the preparation of reports and returns. You’ll learn and master a number of accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

Use of spreadsheets to manage information in the accounting environment
Making provisions for doubtful and irrecoverable debts
