Description

An excellent opportunity is available with Trust Auto Centre to work and train as a vehicle mechanic.

During the apprenticeship you will learn to service and repair vehicles such as vans and cars.

You will be trained in all aspects of vehicle mechanics and electronics including air conditioning, security features, engine and exhaust systems.

Duties of a Light Vehicle technician include:

  • Servicing vehicles – carrying out checks and maintaining vehicles according to the manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Repairing and replacing faulty parts and components.
  • Advising about required repairs to the service department and to customers.
  • Producing time estimates.
  • Maintaining repair and service records.

You will work and train within the workplace and attend college for one day per week. You will be allocated a work-based college skills coach who will regularly visit you in the workplace to ensure that you are continually working towards your qualification and increasing your knowledge and competency within the workplace.

As a Light Vehicle Apprentice you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Working quickly while paying attention to detail
  • Good communication
  • Excellent practical skills
  • The ability to work well within a team and on your own
  • To be able to follow verbal and written instructions well
Candidates must achieve a score of at least Entry Level 3 on the college based online initial assessments in English, Maths and IT.

You will work towards completing the Level 2 Automotive Apprenticeship (Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair) which includes the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT (if required subject to previous qualifications)
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Keen to learn
  • Reliable
  • A genuine interest in working within the automotive industry
A full time position may become available upon completion of the Apprenticeship
