This exciting new role is an ‘on the job’ apprenticeship scheme, offering the learning hands on experience working within the Kitchen environment at Canterbury Academy.

The fantastic qualification on offer equips the employee with knowledge and experiences. Kitchen assistant apprentices have the unique opportunity to develop their hospitality skills and knowledge, throughout a 12-month structured training programme, whilst taking on an entry level, full time position.

As an Kitchen Assistant Apprentice, you’re an essential part of running of the business, so we are looking for applicants who are passionate about working their way up within a professional kitchen and delivering the best possible guest experience and products.

Duties

•Learning from more experienced team members how to work/run a busy section within a professional kitchen

•Work your way up to be able to manage different elements of working in a kitchen

•Prepare, cook and present food to company specification

•Keep kitchen clean, tidy and hygienic at all times by completing various regular cleaning duties

•Work with in a busy café

•Supporting the kitchen team by making sure equipment is clean and available when needed, by using the pot wash and keeping the kitchen tidy

•Have good customer serves with in a busy lunch shift.

•Work safely around kitchen equipment

•Keep up to date with new products, menus and promotions

•Adhere to company policies and procedures and licensing laws

•Be involved and contribute at all team meetings

•Carry out instructions as given by Management and Head Office.

As an Apprentice you will be included on a Hospitality Qualification. Your Qualification will be delivered by an Award Winning Training Provider who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Regional Trainer coming to visit you at work on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.

•No previous experience or qualifications are required; we are looking for your potential and personality.

Level 2 Hospitality Team Member - specialising in Food Production.

Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.

Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.

Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
