Description
As a Business Administration Apprentice what will I be doing?
You will be required to assist with administrative and logistical support, ensure resources required are effectively deployed, ensure the effective provision of office services for staff and that the office is maintained as a cost-effective, safe and secure environment.
Main Duties:
- Assist with the administration of the general day to day running of the office.
- Assist the routine delivery managers and team leaders with work preparation, delivery, handover and closedown to include administration tasks, progress reports, preparing site job packs and handover files.
- Assist in the delivery of team briefings.
- Assist in the preparation and submit Road space, TM & TTRO requests, ensure tracking is in place and maintained.
- Assist with any filing and ensure it is carried out in a timely way be it physical or electronic using ECM and IMS
- Gain the knowledge of other staff job roles within the team to provide a good level of team resilience e.g. leave cover.
- Assist in the accurate tracking of progress and cost to ensure the preparation, production and presentation of monthly labour, plant and material cost reports for all works. Input data into the relevant systems to facilitate the production of reports as required.
- Assist with keeping records up to date using the appropriate administrative systems. ·
- Perform other duties from time to time as reasonably required
- Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
On-site experience
In addition to the formal training programme you will receive hands on experience including mentoring and coaching from skilled members of the team.

GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English grades 9-4 (A-C) is desirable, however not essential.
Level 2 Diploma in Business and Administration plus Functional Skills and Technical Certificate if appropriate.
This apprenticeship is delivered through work based learning, this means that all training is done at the workplace eliminating the need to attend college. The successful candidate will be allocated an assessor who will visit on site every 4-6 weeks and deliver all of the training to gain the qualification and provide the resources to complete work between visits.

Throughout your apprenticeship you and your mentor will review your progress to ensure you are on the right path, going in the right direction and are meeting your own and Kier’s expectations. Before completing your apprenticeship, there will be an opportunity to identify possible next roles, development and further education programmes within your business unit aligned to your ability and aspirations. In addition, the size and scale of the Kier Group presents many potential opportunities to progress and develop new skills should you wish to explore them.
Once you commence at Kier, further induction training will be supplied by Kier. You will also receive visits and other training from the Learning Skills Partnership representative. Holiday entitlement – 26 days per year
