Description

As a Business Administration Apprentice what will I be doing?

You will gain knowledge and experience in managing the facilities within Area 9 along with support and relief of daily business duties within the department, as and when required.

Main Duties:

  • Input of the repair and maintenance spread sheet (RMSS)
  • Obtain updates of reactive works from contractors and record on RMSS
  • Provide record of contractors and their hours monthly to health and safety team
  • Assist with the planning of reactive and minor works
  • Assist Facilities Coordinator with reactive costs from contractors
  • Programme gate and door fobs and advise when ready for collection
  • Attending ad hoc depot visits with members of the team
  • Archive old paperwork onto systems
  • Scan/Email/File current paperwork
  • Updating works tracker and hyperlinking works records
  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is up to date from supply chain
  • Provide admin support in meetings and provide minutes/notes/actions form meeting and distribute
  • Assist with the development of monthly performance reports and issue out to relevant parties within timeframes
  • Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System
  • Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required

On-site experience

In addition to the formal training programme you will receive hands on experience including mentoring and coaching from skilled members of the team.

GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English grades 9-4 is desirable, however not essential.

Level 2 Diploma in Business and Administration plus Functional Skills and Technical Certificate if appropriate.

This apprenticeship is delivered through work based learning, this means that all training is done at the workplace eliminating the need to attend college. The successful candidate will be allocated an assessor who will visit on site every 4-6 weeks and deliver all of the training to gain the qualification and provide the resources to complete work between visits.

  • You should also be honest, reliable and willing to learn
  • You must be committed to completing this apprenticeship
Throughout your apprenticeship you and your mentor will review your progress to ensure you are on the right path, going in the right direction and are meeting your own and Kier’s expectations. Before completing your apprenticeship, there will be an opportunity to identify possible next roles, development and further education programmes within your business unit aligned to your ability and aspirations. In addition, the size and scale of the Kier Group presents many potential opportunities to progress and develop new skills should you wish to explore them.
Once you commence at Kier, further induction training will be supplied by Kier. You will also receive visits and other training from the Learning Skills Partnership representative. Holiday entitlement – 26 days per year
