Description

Whilst our stable and horse management coaching will be pretty much standard, the equine training exposure we provide focuses on positive reinforcement techniques and there will be an opportunity to learn a variety of ways of training animals which in other locations may be classed as ‘difficult’.

Our equines are all rescued and our Apprentice will come across animals which have been very badly treated and suffered much neglect. Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home those in need, and many on site are ready to go to their new ‘forever homes’, but we have a constant stream of rescues being brought in and each one requires unique treatment and support. The Apprentice will be exposed to how to deal with these.

General duties to include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
  • First aid
  • Behavioural training
  • Recovery after rescue

Previous experience will be beneficial
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
