Aldwark Manor Hotel has a fantastic opportunity to offer to the right candidate to join their vibrant team of friendly, super skilled chefs as an apprentice, to learn all aspects of this professional kitchen. This is an excellent supportive employer, offering a first class apprenticeship in the Commis Chef role, under the direction of an award winning Head Chef!
To assist in all sections of the kitchen operation including;
To assist with food preparation and cooking of dishes
Keeping all surface areas clean
Fridge stock rotation management system
Food Service
Meat, fish, poultry, shellfish preparation Entrees, mains, desserts
• Ensure that statutory obligations and Company standards are met
• Ensure efficient service is maintained and that the product provided to our guests is of the highest standard
• Follow strict company hygiene standards and statutory Health and Safety, Food hygiene legislation.
Apprenticeship Commis Chef Level 2
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices’ chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food and produce and eager to learn. You will need to be a good listener, able to follow instructions, be focused and dedicated. Basic kitchen training including knife skills and basic allergen training would be an advantage.
No formal qualifications are required as full training will be given. Basic Food Hygiene, Food Safety and Health and Safety knowledge is desirable, although hotel specific training courses required for the kitchen will be provided including Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Allergens.
Apprenticeship Commis Chef Level 2
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices & chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.
Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.

The apprenticeship will develop knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion of the L2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship there is the potential for progression onto the next level within the kitchen to Demi Chef De Partie. There may also be the chance to achieve other qualifications in Hospitality including L3 Chef De Partie Diploma.
