The primary role of a Property Maintenance Operative is to optimise property condition and quality and to ensure the building is kept in a safe working condition. Property Maintenance Operatives need to maintain a high level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to customers, clients, guests and team. They will understand the mechanism of buildings including electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment. They will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. They will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention.

A Property Maintenance Operative will use their knowledge and understanding of basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing and decorating to;
They will provide first and immediate response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness. They will ensure prevention of major damage that could result in extensive costs and minimise reactive intervention. Please note whilst this advert does state a “weekly wage”, you will be paid on a monthly basis; the starting salary is £12,000 per annum.
GCSE Maths and English at A-E (9-2) grades or equivalent
Completing this apprenticeship programme with its transferable skills will enable progression into roles such as a Technical Specialist e.g. Electrical or Plumbing and Supervisory and Management roles e.g. Facilities Management, across a wide range of sectors.
Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2 Property Maintenance Standard. Learning will be done in the workplace and you will need to attend the College in Hemel Hempstead one day a week during term time. If you need to complete Functional Skills, you will be required to attend College once a week for at least the first 3 months. Apprentices without Maths or English at level 1 must achieve this level and take the test for level 2 Maths and English before the end of the apprenticeship.
Work is primarily on one site as above, however occasionally you may leave site to source/obtain materials for works on site. Works will be both indoors and outdoors as it is the responsibility of resident staff to maintain the whole site, buildings and grounds. It is vitally important that the successful candidate have empathy for the site residents who are adults with learning difficulties, so therefore must have a mature outlook and good communication skills. There may be some computer work, but this will be minimal, ie sourcing suppliers, emailing, recording documents
