Detailed Job Description

You will be working within Property Services in the Asset Management Team, providing admin support to various teams that manage the maintenance and improvement works to over 5,750 council homes. We have a number of exciting projects, enhancing the quality of many of our housing stock thus improving the quality of life for many of our tenants.

The successful candidates roles and responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following;

  • Assist the Asset management co-ordinator by organising meetings, agendas, minutes and chasing up actions for project team meetings.
  • Provide an efficient information service including inputting/processing data, documents and messages for the Asset Management team
  • Accompany surveyors/ housing offices and other team members on their site visits to gain an understanding of the various roles and projects in Housing
  • Provide an efficient and courteous first point of contact dealing with telephone, email and personal enquiries
  • Assist in the provision of statistical information
  • Assist in the maintenance of filing systems, both manual & computerised
  • Provide an incoming/outgoing mail service
  • Provide general office admin duties

The working week will be Monday to Friday and hours will be discussed if successful.

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

Strong Mathematical and English ability would be preferred for this role due to the nature of the role. All relevant training will be provided throughout the course.

Skills required

  • Keyboard & Communication skills are the primary skills required
  • The role calls for a high level of accuracy and the ability to assist the team in developing new systems of work that will be introduced as part of the ongoing development of the service area
  • You should be fully committed to providing excellent customer service and have the ability to work as part of a developing team
  • High levels of IT knowledge would be advantageous

Future prospects

There are many prospects for the candidate, either in Affordable Homes or indeed, across the Council in other departments. At the Council we are keen to keep hold of staff and aid them through development, via training and support. If the candidate is successful in finding a job within Affordable Homes there is the opportunity to study for Chartered Institute of Housing industry specific qualifications.

All training will be delivered in the work place with no requirement for day release to college. You will be mentored by experienced members of staff while developing your skills to a nationally recognised industry standard.

The current Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW) is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
