Description
The Kingsdon Inn has an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to train with one of Somerset’s most prestigious chefs. The restaurant has been a finalist in the Taste of The West awards for the previous two years, and has national recognition in publications such as The Sunday Times.
You will be working closely with Head Chef Adam Cain, who will provide you with a top class education in the culinary arts.
You will have the opportunity to learn many skills during your 12-month apprenticeship, including bread making, working with high quality cuts of meat and poultry, and producing desserts from scratch.
Other duties include;
• Food preparation
• Knife skills – chopping meat, vegetables etc.
• Marinating meats
• Making fresh sauces
• Arranging food items in plates
• Ensure correct storage of food items
• Adhere to hygiene protocols and best food practices
You will be enrolled on a level 2 Commis Chef qualification delivered to you by an award winning training provider!

Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices & chosen career route, each standards has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.
Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.

Following the completion of a 12-month apprenticeship program, there will be an opportunity to continue progressing as part of the team at the Kingsdon Inn, learning all sections of the kitchen and gaining valuable experience in a busy environment.
