Description
You will be expected to work towards gaining the skills and knowledge to be able to competently compete the following duties, to include but not exhaustive to:
-
Run up new machines as and when required.
- Accurately fault find, diagnose and repair machines as issues arise, whilst keeping machine downtime and repair cost‘s to a minimum.
- Ensuring any parts order are the correct part for completing any repairs and returning machine to acceptable working conditions.

Use machine manuals and wiring diagrams, to keep machines in running order, and /or carry out diagnostic testing.
- Being able to carry out and keep accurate records for PAT testing.

A good understanding of health and Safety within the workplace.
- Able to communicate with line managers on a daily basis, and inform the current state of any machine issues, or long term machine problems.
- Ability to strip down a machine, with the intention of servicing, replace or repair worn or non-working parts, then return machine to acceptable working condition
Technicians require customer service and communication skills, since they will be working in varied places of business with machines owned by different people. Mathematics along a proficiency with tools is also needed. The position requires significant arm, hand and finger dexterity, coordination, near vision and control precision. Critical thinking, operations monitoring and decision making are also important skills Being able to work, days and nights along with weekends and all bank holidays.

- Must be technically minded and have a passion for engineering.
- Must have a good level of English and Maths.
GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications) in English and Maths is also required.
Previous engineering qualifications would be an advantage.
You will work towards the Level 3 (Advanced) Apprenticeship in Electrical & Electronic Engineering. This will include one day per week college attendance.
The focus of this apprenticeship is to develop your expertise in areas such as a technical contribution to either the design, development, manufacture, installation, operation or maintenance of products, equipment, processes and services. You will apply proven techniques to solve engineering problems.
Assessment consists of the following:
• Practical assessment for the NVQ covering Knowledge and skills
• A knowledge test and practical assessment
• An Employment Rights and Responsibilities Workbook
• English, Maths and ICT at Level 2.
You will attend college one day per week to learn the knowledge and practical aspects. Teaching and Assessment will also be delivered through online resources and on a 1-2-1 basis by your skills coach and employer.

A full time position may become available upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
Progression opportunities from this Apprenticeship include the HNC in Engineering in the apprentice's chosen specialism.
