The FCA are seeking apprentice Compliance and Risk Officers to complete the Level 3 Compliance and Risk Officer qualification. Whilst completing the qualification they will work amongst experts in their busy head office. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and good analytical skills.

Detailed Job Description

For this programme there are roles available in a variety of teams, including :

  • Authorisation Support
  • Retail Lending Evaluation
  • Banking and Insurance
  • Compliance Oversight
  • Your key responsibilities:
  • Taking part in meetings with internal and external stakeholders and contributing to meeting preparation and accurately recording what was discussed
  • Using the FCA systems and case tracker systems to ensure information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner
  • Challenging existing procedures/ways of working, identifying improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of business process
  • Participating in projects when required
  • Updating procedures and focusing on continuous process improvement
  • Working on your own personal learning and development
  • Supporting the team and department with case administration, including, setting up cases on the FCA system, completing a check before allocating to a member of the team and saving documents onto the system
  • Responsible for providing weekly updates on case volumes and producing relevant updates for the team and department
  • Completing initial assessments of less complex cases and supporting the case officer for parts of the process throughout their assessment
  • Working collaboratively with the team, pro-actively escalating issues and supporting where appropriate

Requirements and Prospects

Qualifications required

  • Minimum of 2 A-Levels at grade C 
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs A*-C (4-9) including Maths and English or equivalent qualifications

Skills required

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages

  • Good written language and customer service skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • A strong team player with the ability to be flexible and pragmatic.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, positively embracing new approaches.
  • Experience of stakeholder management, including senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure, meeting service standards, targets and deadlines

Future prospects

Apprentices who successfully complete their professional qualification and apprenticeship programme will be considered for a permanent role within the FCA.

Training provided

As a Compliance/ Risk Officer Apprentice you will undertake the Compliance/ Risk Officer Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. Completion of the apprenticeship will result in the awarding of the ICA Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering, Compliance, or Financial Crime Prevention.
