You're always asked what you want to be when you grow up. Does your answer change every time? If the answer is a yes it's probably time you really thought about what you want to do with your life.

At the tender age of 5, I was asked what I wanted to be when I was older. Without any hesitation, I replied with 'Fairy Princess'; because who doesn't feel great when wearing a tutu and wings?

At 10 years old, I was asked the same question and, this time, my answer was uncertain. Aerobics instructor…Writer…. Fashion Designer…. Whatever my friends want to be?

When I reached 15 and my Schools career advisor interrogated me regarding my chosen career path, it became clear that I had no idea!

And, no one was able to provide me with an answer or suggestion about how to decide - this was all on me. This dive into the unknown prompts many people to make the wrong decisions in moments of panic and pressure, which can set them back once they figure out their dream career. Others conform with their peers, without pausing to really think about what they want to do with their lives.

In some cases, people go to University and after a year of studying, realise that this academic route wasn't for them. Tragically, this means they are ineligible for an Apprenticeship - so it is of vital importance not to jump in the deep end if you're undecided.
