Opportunity to join an experienced and friendly greenkeeping team, maintaining the county’s oldest most recognised golf course. Responsible for the daily set up and maintenance of the golf course all year round.

The apprentice is required to be physically fit with excellent listening skills and attention to detail
Also an advantage to be mechanically minded and enthusiastic about the role
GCSE English and maths grade 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent
The apprentice must be reliable and able to cope with the early start times, motivated and interested in landscaping
Punctuality and the ability to follow instructions is vital
Consider the location of the golf course - are you able to travel? The start times are early, so you must be able to arrive on time. Consider the availability of public transport if you do not drive. Golf is a sport played all year round, therefore you will be outside all year round - sun, wind, rain etc.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Progression to senior greenkeeper following completion of apprenticeship. Greenkeeping is a recognised trade all over the world, so you could take your skills and work in Australia, USA etc.
Dunstable Downs golf club is situated in Bedfordshire and has a unique 18 hole course. The 100 year old golf course is situated two miles south west of Dunstable, on the Whipsnade Road, high on the crest of the Chiltern Hills nearly 800 feet above sea level. The Downs is famous as a beauty spot and viewpoint with a panorama taking in seven counties. The bracing air and the glorious downland turf, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, makes it an ideal spot for golf.
