Tutbury Castle is a real 11th. century royal castle set in 38 acres perched high on a grassy ledge overlooking the beautiful Dove Valley.
There are indoor rooms furnished with original 16th and 17th. century furniture and a huge fireplace. There is also a glorious civil war ruin of towering ramparts and ghostly roofless chambers. The gardens are boxed and as the castle is a scheduled monument so there are large areas which appear to be untouched by modern life. Steep wooded slopes provide dramatic cover with a river below giving a further dimension to the property.
