Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrate the ability to organise own workspace

Strong colleague/ customer /subcontractor interfacing skills
Experience with Microsoft Office suite
A minimum of GCSEs at grade 5 (or C+) or above, in mathematics, English and a science, technology or engineering-related subject or equivalent qualifications.
Relevant technical qualification.
Applicants are also required to undertake a series of assessments at the AMRC Training Centre before being offered a place on an apprenticeship.
Interested in developing an understanding of the fundamentals of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, cylinders and their applications
Ability to interpret hydraulic schematic drawings
Ability to engage with customers in a pressured environment
Willing to take on challenging assignments
During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study
One Friday per month you will return to your workplace
After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study
The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job
Completion of this apprenticeship is just the start of your career and can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors.
Established in 1976 as Hedley Hydraulics, the company started out as a system and component supplier to the UK steelwork industry and machine tool manufacturers.
The last 40 years have seen major changes across both industry and technology which have meant exciting times for Hedley. We’ve always been an innovative company, adapting and evolving to the needs of our customers and this is reflected in the diverse range of projects we’ve worked on. These have included a helicopter ‘Ship Simulation Deck landing pad’, the Gloucester swing bridge and the Royal Opera house hydraulic stage set.
