Sunderland GP Alliance has a proven track record of retaining apprentices once they have completed their apprenticeship and qualifications or standards
Sunderland GP Alliance was established in May 2014, in response to discussions amongst the local GP community, to form a primary care provider collaboration of sufficient mass and expertise to act as an equal player in the local health and social care economy, and with the ability to influence the development of new models of care within the City.
Covering 41 GP Practices, and 85% of the patient population of Sunderland, the Alliance has a dynamic Board of GP Directors, and is working in close collaboration with Sunderland CCG and the local acute, community and social care providers, to develop and implement a new model of care provision as part of the new national Vanguard status.
In Sunderland, we have a vision to develop healthcare that’s fit for the future. Proactive person-centred care is at the heart of this ambition, and will be delivered by integrating health and care across its primary, community and secondary settings. It was this compelling vision, “Better Health for Sunderland”, that was nationally recognised by achieving Vanguard status for our Multi-Speciality Community Provider Model, the only area in the North East of England to do so.
This supported by one of the largest Better Care Funds in the country, level 3 co-commissioning and a progressive community of local GPs.
