Description of Opportunity
As a TA you'll engage and support pupils across a range of abilities, including some pupils with special educational needs. You will also undertake duties that support the teacher, such as preparing the classroom and resources.

You'll need:
Excellent verbal communication skills for motivating children to learn
Active listening skills to understand the children’s' needs
To be flexible and open to change for working on different activities
To enjoy working with other people
The ability to teach pupils how to do something
The ability to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things
To be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
Some work experience or voluntary work with children is highly recommended
Minimum 3 GCSEs, A*-C and above (or 4-9) to include maths and English or equivalent qualification.
You’ll need:
Sensitivity and understanding for building good relationships with children
Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
The duration of this apprenticeship will be between 18 months- 2 years, depending on the prior learning and experience of the candidate.

Apprentices without English and maths at Level 2 must achieve these prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

If you are successful at this stage, you will then be invited to attend an interview with the school/employer.
Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18-year olds is a priority and may be fully funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

As well as ensuring full competency as a Teaching Assistant, this standard provides a foundation for potential progression into a number of career paths in the Educational sector including Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Assistant Teacher and Teacher.
