Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written
Good IT skills, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
You will have good team working skills, and be able to work as part of a laboratory team
You will have strong analytical skills, great attention to detail and be willing to undertake scientific research and analyse results
You will need good time management skills and be keen to deliver work in a timely and accurate manner
All aspects of your work will need to be delivered to the highest quality without exception and so the ability to plan and organise their daily tasks will be essential
Minimum of 5 GCSE’s, grades A*-C or 4-9 (or predicted/equivalent). These must include English and Maths and a Science subject. Or a BTEC Level 2 in Applied Science
An AS or A-Level in a Science subject is desirable but not essential
Please note if you already have a scientific degree you are not eligible for apprentice funding
You will be cooperative and flexible and be able to maintain professional relationships with colleagues and external customers
You must have a real interest in science and be willing to learn new skills
Upon completion of your apprenticeship there may be the opportunity to continue your education to degree level and gain permanent employment with NPL
