Description of Opportunity

Duties will include (but not be limited to):


To support children’s learning and to share in the care and well-being of the children throughout the school

To take part in the planning, development and delivery of the curriculum

To support the Class Teacher with some administrative tasks in line with Workforce Reform

To support children with special educational needs within the school, in some cases, providing support on a short or long term basis to children who require a higher level of assistance to enable them to participate effectively in mainstream education

To supervise the children during lunchtime where required

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Have a command of spoken English that is sufficient to effectively carry out the duties of the role

Able to give clear direction and instructions to pupils

Good interpersonal skills

Ability to work co-operatively and flexibly within a team

Ability to support individuals and groups of pupils to ensure they make progress

Ability to cover classes when directed and manage behaviour of whole class in line with the school’s expectations

Ability to contribute to the preparation and implementation of individual support plans

An understanding of the importance of confidentiality

Ability to act and work on own initiative

GCSE maths and English (grade 7-4/A-C) or equivalent

Three other GCSE's or equivalent

Level 3 Teaching Assistant standard

Paediatric First Aid

Must be able to manage own workload effectively

Willingness to share expertise, skills and knowledge and ability to encourage others to follow suit

To practise equal opportunities in all aspects of the role and around the work place in line with policy

Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed to promote the welfare of all children

To maintain a personal commitment to professional development linked to the competencies necessary to deliver the requirements of this post
