Qube Learning are working with St Andrews Care Home to help find an Apprentice Care Assistant. The successful candidate will complete a Adult Care Level 2 qualification, lasting 15 months. During your apprenticeship you will have a dedicated Skills Tutor, who will make regular appointments virtually or face to face, to support you throughout your qualification. Maths and English Functional Skills will also be included in your apprenticeship, if you do not already hold a C/4 grade and above in GCSE. Your apprenticeship will be completed 100% at the workplace.

Full Job Description Including daily duties

This is a great opportunity for two young people to gain invaluable on-job training within the care sector, alongside studying for a recognised qualification.

Applicants must be caring and kind, cheerful and friendly and should have good listening and communication skills, along with a genuine vocation to help individuals live their lives as fully as possible.

As well as working within a care home setting, there will also be scope for the apprentices to assist in the setting up and running of a nature garden which will be open to people of all ages who may be suffering from mental health or physical challenges.

Job Duties

-To attend to the physical, emotional and social needs of residents, under the direction of the Care Manager, Supervisor or designated Carer.

-To promote the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all residents.

-To contribute to a separate file record for each resident and to participate in the formulation and implementation of individual care plans.

-To help organize and participate in activities and outings involving residents.

-To act as an escort where necessary.

-To undertake training as provided.

-To understand responsibilities in relation to health and safety, data protection, food hygiene, fire precautions and emergency procedures, infection control and emergency aid.

-To attend staff meetings, support colleagues, work as part of a team for the benefit and well-being of the Care Home and residents.

Hours per week, description of hours

Monday to Sunday - working 5 out of 7 days - alternate shifts.

Total hours per week: 30
