Description

Farley Hall Equestrian Centre are looking for a level 2/3 equine apprentice to work at their full livery yard catering mainly for competition horses with working owners who expect a very high standard of livery.

This is an ideal role for someone who is used to the basics of handling perhaps through their own horse/pony, and is confident with big, strong horses. Further training will be provided; the Yard Manager and Estate Manager are experienced event riders and the Estate Manager is a BE Accredited coach.

Farley Hall is a full livery yard catering mainly for competition horses with working owners who expect a very high standard of livery, with immaculate beds, communal areas and a high level of competence in handling fit horses.

Training will be given but we do need someone who is used to the basics of handling perhaps through their own horse/pony, and is confident with big, strong horses. There is a high ratio of staff to horses, there will be a maximum of 22 horses with 4-5 staff members plus the apprentice, meaning plenty of oversight and training available.

Yard manager and estate manager are experienced event riders and the estate manager is a BE Accredited coach. Staff are expected to work 7am or 7.30am-4pm/4.30pm but time for training can be given most afternoons.

Duties include:

•Mucking out

•Turning out/bringing in

•Tack cleaning

•Tacking up

•Feeding

•Filling hay nets

•Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming

•Bathing

•Rug changing

•Schooling

•Riding

•First aid

•Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)

•Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

•Harrowing school

•Poo-picking

Must be fairly knowledgeable with the basic of horse care - maybe you've had your own horse before?
Must be able to work towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English, or C+ in GCSEs
