Description

This stud is looking for an enthusiastic person, passionate about the opportunity to work with horses.

There will be opportunity to handle the horses, train and work with them in preparation for shows, sales and public appearances. There will be opportunities to accompany and work with the horses at shows as well as some riding opportunity for the right candidate. This vacancy is a great opportunity to learn a wide range of skills with a wide range of horses and develop your skills handling and working with horses in the long term.

This position comes with live-in accommodation, and livery is negotiable.

General yard duties to include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing

General training opportunities include:

  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Some basic horse care experience

Basic riding skills would be an advantage

Must be able to work towards Essential Skills in Maths and English
Full training supplied through Haddon Training Apprenticeships

You must be someone keen to work hard, put horses first and centre in everything you do. A passion for horses is a must.

You must be friendly and outgoing, able to work on your own if required and able to use your own initiative when necessary.

Honesty, reliability and trustworthiness are a must.

Full time position available upon completion of apprenticeship
