Widey Court Primary School is looking to appoint an outstanding and highly motivated Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join their team as soon as possible and assist the existing teaching staff, with a particular focus on sports and physical education. This post is initially situated at Widey Court Primary School. As part of their academy trust there may be the opportunity to work in any of our schools in the future. You could be the person we appoint if you: Have a warm, caring, nurturing personality with a friendly disposition Are enthusiastic, flexible, and organised with excellent communication skills and initiative Are able to develop positive relationships with children and parents Are passionate about working with children and look forward to joining our friendly team Are able to support pupils in developing skills in independence, self-confidence, and social interaction Have high expectations of pupils’ learning and behaviour Are able to develop positive behaviour strategies with children Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills Day to day duties for this apprenticeship could include: Establish good working relationships with pupils acting as a role model Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievements and progress Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use Work as part of a team appreciating and supporting the role of other people in the team Support the change process, remaining positive during times of change Build and maintain successful relationships with pupils Assisting teaching staff with their day to day activities  Assisting with physical education, sports, and fitness activities To help set up the learning environment for the daily programme and help tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that all equipment is clean and safe at all times Attending staff meetings Attending training courses Assisting with the planning of the curriculum Advising children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation

Able to work as part of a team Experience working with and or caring for children of relevant age General understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/techniques Basic understanding of child development and learning Strong awareness of inclusion, especially within a school setting Experience and skills supporting children with SEND/ASD Understanding of how to support children with SEND, record achievements and progress and provide appropriate reports and feedback for the teacher Ability to provide support for pupils, especially those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities Ability to utilise strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals Awareness of procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection
Maths and English GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (Or equivalent) Suitability to work with young children (an enhanced DBS check will be performed prior to you starting the role)
Over the 15-18-month Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard, you will work towards the following:Behaviours, Skills, and KnowledgeLevel 1/2 functional skills in maths and English (if required)End-Point Assessment (EPA)You will have regular visits at the workplace from a designated College assessor to observe your progress and competence in the role you are carrying out.
