Description of Opportunity
A Marine Pipe Fitter apprentice will be involved in the manufacture and installation of low- and high-pressure pipe systems such as water, air, hydraulics, steam and fuel. Materials used to manufacture the pipes will range from plastic to high quality stainless steel used on submarine reactor systems. The skills learnt will be traditional as well as current for use on the latest fittings and materials.
As an apprentice you will learn a range of skills including:
Interpret engineering drawings
Making of wire and tube templates
Manufacture pipes using hand and machine bending techniques
High quality brazing
The work is varied and involves working on ships and submarines as well as in the workshop and service systems within the dockyard.

To apply you will need the following qualifications:
Minimum either achieved or predicted GCSE Grade C or 4 in English, maths and science or equivalent
Engineering Technician level 3All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
