Description of Opportunity
Become a Support Engineer working as part of a team responsible for supporting Warships and Submarines for the Royal Navy.
Support Engineers work as a liaison between the MOD (customer) and Production. They process the customers’ requirements into work authorisations for Production to work from. You will work closely with Senior Support Engineers and Production Managers and will make regular trips on-board the ships/boats to ascertain work requirements.
You will work on projects from the outset all the way through to project completion.
As a Support Engineer apprentice, the initial phase of your training will be spent full-time at City College Plymouth where you will learn and develop core engineering hand skills and technical skills, including working with engineering documentation and drawings.
You will cover all the main trade basics for your apprenticeship:
On completion of this initial year of training you will start your in-role learning, working within the Dockyard in project environments where you will be able to further develop your engineering knowledge and skills on the job with the scope to learn management techniques.

To apply you will need the following qualifications:
Minimum either achieved or predicted GCSE Grade C or 4 in English, maths and Science or equivalent
Engineering Technician level 3All training to be provided by City College Plymouth in collaboration with the company themselves throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.
