A fantastic opportunity for a level 3 senior equine groom apprentice to join the team at the renowned Catherston Stud and Livery in Hampshire. This is the home of British Olympian Jennie Loriston-Clarke MBE FBHS, and base of International Dressage Riders Lizzie Murray and Charlotte Dicker. This is a non-riding position focusing on a variety of general duties across the yard and learning from some of the very best.

Home of Olympian, Jennie Loriston-Clarke MBE FBHS, base of International Dressage Riders Lizzie Murray and Charlotte Dicker.
The Stud - Top, proven bloodlines for both stallions and mares producing quality youngstock for dressage and eventing. Natural covering, fresh, chilled and frozen AI with mares able to come at livery to foal, be put in foal to our stallions or external stallions of your choice. Young Sport Horses & ponies available for sale. Breeders of Champions.
Livery - Excellent facilities, qualified, professional staff with bespoke packages for Competition Horses, Stallions, Full, Part and Schooling Livery as well as youngstock and retirement grazing available. Indoor & Outdoor Arenas, Horsewalker, Lunge pen, Solarium, Individual turnout fields, etc. 5* Livery.
Training - Schooling for horses, lessons for horses and riders, bespoke short courses available for horse and rider. Dressage Coaches all UKCC Level 3 Qualified.
Some of the general duties will include;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Paddock maintenance
  • Schooling
  • Riding
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

All apprentices must have previous equine experience as the yard has big, fit competition horses and stallions.
C+ in GCSE's or Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills maths and English
Full training provided throughout the equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.
Successful candidate will be confident, hardworking with an outstanding work ethic - Lots of opportunities for those willing to put the dedicated work in!
Possibility of full-time employment upon completion.
