Description of Opportunity

You will be reporting direct to the Fabrication Manager, you will be expected to:

Learn MIG, ARC & TIG Welding.

Learn basic and heavy machinery, including hand tools, guillotine, sheet rolling, punch & press brake.

Learn to work from basic and engineering drawings

Able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team

Carry out a small amount of wet spray painting

Must have a can do attitude and hands on. Very practical skills being taught and put in practice. Must be reliable and trustworthyGood Maths and able to calculate

Working towards your Level 2 Engineering Operations apprenticeship, training will include:

Engineering Operatives working within a fabrication role will have:

Knowledge of:
  • Specific marking out and preparation techniques
  • Different fabrication and joining techniques
  • Specific safe working practices, isolation procedures and safe reinstating of equipment/system that need to be observed
  • Welding including MIG and TIG
  • Shape the materials using the appropriate methods and techniques
  • Join the materials using the appropriate methods and techniques
  • Produce components which meet the specification requirements
  • Carryout quality checks during and after the fabrication activities

Honest, trustworthy, reliable and good timekeeperMust be a good team player and able to follow instructions
  • Progress to Technicians Level 3
