The foundation course
starts with a residential period of 14-18 weeks (depending on whether you have
any riding experience) in our residential centre where you will learn to ride
racehorses and how to look after them.
Once you complete this
course we find you a job in a racing yard where you will work towards achieving
your Level 2 Diploma Apprenticeship.
No riding experience
is needed, you just need to be physically fit and have a passion for horses or
the great sport of racing and with prospects of career progression and world
travel coupled with the thrill of riding a thoroughbred. Racing is a career
like no other.
This residential course is open to young people from anywhere
in the UK, there is a cost for
accomodation and food but if your household income is low you may be
eligible for a bursary to cover most of these costs, find out more by contacting

We will teach you what you need to know to ride and
care for racehorses. It’s an early start to the day at 5am to get the horses
ready and physically demanding but if you are up for a challenge it could be
the start of your new career.

You will mainly wear riding gear but we would advise that you bring
casual clothes for the evenings and weekends. Also you may wish to bring smart
clothing as you may get the opportunity to go racing while you are at the
School. If you are accepted onto a course you will be sent joining instructions
which gives a full kit list.
