Description

Taste Devon is looking for an apprentice to join our commercial kitchen in Sowton, Exeter. The business provides corporate outdoor catering to a large number of businesses in the city. In addition Taste Devon owns Exeter Food Truck which operates mobile food vans that stop at work places Mon-Fri selling a range of hot and cold food from a special food service area on the vehicles to office workers. You will be helping in preparing a range of products for our food vans to include sandwiches, salads, pastas and hot meals. You will also be helping in food preparation for our corporate clients where attention to detail and superb presentational skills will be taught. In addition to food preparation you will be expected to play a key role in keeping the kitchen area clean, tidy and hygienic.

Duties to include:

• Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs

• Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately

• Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas

Be able to carry our set tasks quickly and efficiently

Be excellent at communicating

Maths and English GCSE, grade C/4 (or equivalent).

If you do not have these qualifications our team will support you to gain these skills alongside your apprenticeship.

You will work towards achieving the following:

  • Certification of Production Chef Apprenticeship standard
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths (where applicable)
Have stamina and enthusiasm

Have an interest in the catering trade

Furthermore, you will also have to opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship following successful completion of the Level 2.
