Description
The Royal Mencap Traineeship programme is delivered in
warehousing and distribution, aimed at people with learning disability,
difficulty and / or autism.
The traineeship typically lasts about 16 weeks. This
provision is aimed at creating a bridge into apprenticeships or a move directly
into paid work so it’s for young people aged 19 to 24 who may not have an EHCP,
have finished education and might be closer to the labour market in terms of
skills and ability.

The traineeship typically lasts about 16 weeks. This
provision is aimed at creating a bridge into apprenticeships or a move directly
into paid work so it’s for young people aged 19 to 24 who may not have an EHCP,
have finished education and might be closer to the labour market in terms of
skills and ability.
The programme starts with 4-6 weeks of work preparation,
delivered in a small group setting of 6 to 8 trainees. Following this, the
trainees complete 100 hours of work experience within Clipper warehousing and
distribution. The programme is also underpinned by the development of English,
maths and ICT skills. To be eligible, participants must be aged 19-24, not
have qualifications above level 3 after having left education, have a low level
of work experience and be assessed (by Mencap & the employer) to be able to
progress into work or onto an apprenticeship in a max of 6 months duration.
