Description
The Rose and Crowd are looking for someone with a passion for cooking and eager to learn to join their team. As an apprentices chef you will be working alongside the head chef and other kitchen staff members on a daily basis.
Normal food serving hours are 12:00 -21:00 but on a Sunday 12:00-19:00, your working hours will be fitted in around the college classes, which you will be required to attend.
Your day will include:
- Preparing ingredients ready for 12:00 service.
- Cooking the ingredients
- Preparing the dishes for serving
- Check stock and quantity of products. Restocking when ingredients and resources arrive
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment and cleaning down after service, including washing of equipment and surfaces
- Any other duties which need to be done in the kitchen to enable service to run smoothly and safety.
The Rose and Crown hold private events which will give you a chance to cook dishes normally not on the menu, to help provide the best experience to the the client.

Level 2 Apprenticeship in Commis Chef you will learn the knowledge and skills development linked to the qualification, behavioral development linked to being a productive member of the kitchen team, providing creative solutions within the kitchen environment. This will include
- Culinary Skills including cooking with meat, poultry, fish and vegetables
- Learn how to cook ingredients correctly.
- Food Safety Skills
- Learn how to prepare a dish for serving
- People skills
- Business Skills
You will also be asked to complete the Level 2 Food Safety Certificate as part of your 20% off the job log.
