Description

Our Accounting Flying Start programme lasts four years and is an excellent way to fast-track your career in the accounting profession.

During the programme you’ll have three paid work placements with us. They’re built into the university’s academic year and last for just one term in each year, so you’ll still have the whole summer off to enjoy.

The programme will put you on track to becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant – you’ll complete 80% of your ICAEW exams on the degree, and will be just over a year away from the full qualification once you graduate.

Applications open soon for the Flying Start Accounting Degree Programme: click 'Apply Now' to sign up to PwC's Talent Network and you'll be the first to hear when applications open.

6 reasons to choose the Flying Start Accounting degree:

1. Enjoy the best of both worlds: Be a student and be a professional. Enjoy everything university life has to offer and then taste what it means to be a Chartered Accountant on multiple placements at PwC throughout your degree.

2. Study at one of the leading UK universities: Our four-year Flying Start programme can be studied at Newcastle University Business School, Henley Business School at the University of Reading, Nottingham University Business School and Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester.

3. Financial Package: We offer a competitive financial package to support your time on the degree, including: Paid work placements with a competitive salary; Sourced and paid for accommodation where needed for each work placement period; Some of the Universities offer reduced tuition fees during your degree; Many of the learning materials are provided free of charge; ICAEW registration fee.

4. Globally recognised qualification: The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is a world-leading professional membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports over 150,000 Chartered Accountants worldwide. On the degree you will complete 12/15 exams and nearly half of the 450 days needed to be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. Whether you aspire to be an accountant, an auditor or a professional in any business or finance career path, the ACA qualification that you gain will give you a Flying Start in your career.

5. Work with PwC: PwC has been voted the UK’s Accountancy Employer of Choice for 20 years. There’s no better place to learn your trade as an accountant. You’ll join one of PwC’s Audit teams, where you could be working on external audits. Quality is at the heart of how we build trust in society and we bring passionate people together to work inclusively. We recognise Audit as a deep specialism and give our people access to the best opportunities. Our people challenge and are open to challenge themselves as we work to solve important problems for the organisations we audit. They take pride in their work and profession, working together with flexibility, agility and intelligence. They put the team first and are passionate about quality in everything that they do.

6. Job offer: The vast majority of finalists on this programme with PwC have received a job offer after graduation, joining in year 3 of our graduate programme meaning potentially becoming a fully qualified ICAEW Chartered Accountant with the salary to match, just over a year after graduation.

Social mobility:

For our Flying Start programmes, we work with our university partners, to enhance social mobility and widen access to our profession. As each university is unique, they all have their own admissions policy to consider applications. These are to ensure they get admissions from students from all backgrounds to enhance diversity and social mobility.

PwC’s Flying Start Financial Bursary:

The Flying Start financial bursary is aimed at supporting students from a lower socioeconomic background with the day-to-day costs of university life. At PwC, the development and wellbeing of our people is paramount and we’re delighted to be able to award such a substantial bursary to support our students to be the best they can be. If you meet the eligibility, and you join one of our applicable Flying Start Accounting programmes in autumn 2022, a £10,000 bursary will be awarded to you, split across the four years of the degree.

If you believe you’re eligible for the financial bursary and you apply for one of the applicable Flying Start Accounting programmes then we’ll be in touch with you during the application process to outline the next steps. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your confidence, your skills for the future, and your experience of work and university, all while being supported financially.
