Description
An Apprentice chef is required for Porro a busy restaurant, serving great Italian food. Experience is not essential for this role, as it is a friendly restaurant where full training will be given whilst on the job. The Apprentice will cover all aspects of the kitchen, prepping food, cooking, opening up the kitchen and the cleaning and closing down, at the end of each shift.
- Preparation and service of food to required standards, recipes and quantities
- Liaise with senior chef on all matters relating to the business
- Maintain fridges and dry store areas - keep clean, organised and clearly labelled, ensuring stock rotation
- Maintain all work areas in accordance with food hygiene standards
- Maintain regular cleaning schedule for kitchen areas and storage areas
- Ensure all communications between kitchen and front of house are clear and timely
- Accurate recording of wastage and breakages
- Complete all apprentice chef course work as required
Although full training will be provided, the ideal candidate will:
- Have passion and imagination for food
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team and independently with exceptional work ethic
- Be able to take direction with efficiency and speed
- Ability to remain calm under pressure

Level 2 Food Production & CookingEach framework includes a diploma/certificate which shows the practical skills, a technical certificate to confirm the knowledge and understanding and Functional Skills in Maths and English. You will be assessed throughout the apprenticeship and complete the qualification based on the competencies within your job role. You will be assessed by a combination of observations, professional discussion, question and answer sessions and self-study which is required to confirm your knowledge and understanding of the career route you have chosen.Free meals/food will be available whilst in shift, plus family discount when visiting the restaurant with family. There is an established team working on site and they are looking to welcome new team members into the restaurant to become part of the working family.
