The Lost Kitchen
Description of Opportunity
We are looking to train the right candidate within the restaurant team with a specific focus on Barista and Bar work.
The Lost Kitchen is a busy, rural independent restaurant and you’ll be working alongside our head barman and the FoH team.
We want to offer the best coffee in town made with great skill and understanding of the process. We are developing our range of in-house bar syrups, cordials, cocktails, and fermented drinks so there’s an opportunity for developing an interest in that area.
As a growing business, there are many ways in which the role can evolve and develop as well as mastering skills within Hospitality itself.
We have created positive energy and atmosphere in our teams and with our customers and are looking for a team member that can embrace and maintain this at a real welcome point of our restaurant, along with having good initiative and attention to detail.
Once trained the team member will be responsible for engaging with customers courteously, proactively taking orders, making coffees & keeping organised, and maintaining an organised and presentable bar. Once trained your responsibilities will include:
- Producing fabulous espresso based coffees. Our drinks taste fantastic and must look gorgeous (latte art would be great!)
- Delivering exceptional customer service
- Working behind the bar making drinks or serving.
- Keeping bar clean and tidy
- Till/Cash handling
- Following our opening and closing procedures
- General cleaning duties (during and at the end of the shift)
The candidate will start with basic levels of responsibility, such as simply serving drinks, clearing the tables, and preparing for the bar for a day for a busy service. Increasing the responsibility to Barista and cocktail training, organising and prioritising bar tasks with initiative, taking and making orders on our ordering system, running the bar and coffee machine, assisting with the smooth running of the day, including, developing customer-facing service skills, ensuring that guidelines are followed. Communicating with team members.
We have strong commitment to our food community and the environment, near and far. We offer equal share of tronc tips. We open Wednesday to Sunday with 21 days holiday a year pro rata, with Christmas off.

None, but if they have food hygiene or any first aid qualifications then great.
Level 2 Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship
Keen to learn, happy to be in team, interest in coffee and bar, self-motivated.
We offer a range of front of house management roles within the restaurant. Once they are competent in a head waiter position and show initiative for more then training for team leader or front of house assistant roles can be options.
This is a very busy restaurant, requires attention to detail, personality led work environment, needs to be capable of an attentive and welcoming demeanour to all guests.
