Description

Employer description:

Differentology was founded in 2013 by our CEO, Mark James, as part of the larger Everything Different Group, which also included several creative strands. Differentology was founded on providing advert effectiveness research, primarily to media companies, and that work, and those clients, still form a large part of the business.

However, Differentology also has an Insight division, providing strategy-forming market research to some of the world's largest companies, and a Qualitative research team, which gathers opinions and feedback from one-to-one interviews, focus groups and product tests. Differentology enjoys a relaxed, but supportive work environment, with an excellent track record of helping young people start and grow their careers and strives to create an environment where everyone's voice can be heard.

Main responsibilities:

  • Scripting: The data technician will be involved in converting Word questionnaires into on-line surveys. The software used, Askia, allows a great deal of this through a simple visual interface, although there is some requirement for basic HTML and learning Askia's own scripting language.

  • Fieldwork management: The data technician will work with external companies to channel respondents into surveys and help ensure that quotas are filled, and the appropriate number of responses are collected

  • Data cleanse: Once a survey is complete the data technician will be responsible for reviewing the data and applying our quality control tests, identifying and removing responses which do not meet the required standard.

  • Post-coding: In cases where an open (free text) question has been asked the technician will need to code those responses into a closed question (a list of brands, for example), to allow for quantitative reporting.

  • Data-table generation: Askia is used to format the data into data tables, which are then exported to Excel, for delivery to the research teams.

  • Checking: At every step of the process every analysts work is checked by another member of the team, based on a QA checklist. Once the technician is competent in the procedures themselves, they will assist in checking the work of other team members.

  • Data entry: There is a small requirement for some data entry into Differentology's business development system. This is just adding new contacts and will not be more than 1-2 hours per week.
