Main responsibilities:





  • To develop a detailed understanding of Wincanton’s digital transport systems and the correct application of processes within them


  • To develop a working understanding of transport operations in the 3rd partly logistic environment


  • To become proficient in the process and application of Wincanton’s digital transport suite of systems


  • To plan transport operations efficiently and according to the digital processes


  • To act as champions of the digital transport process, maintaining process and supporting others to adopt and align to the digital process


  • To ensure Wincanton transport planning is driven by the lowest cost solution that aligns to the agreed service level agreements for Wincanton clients


  • To ensure data in the system is maintained in an accurate and timely manner, resolving issues and problems to ensure accuracy at all times


  • To ensure required actions within the system are enacted in a timely manner driven by systemic reporting following procedures

Personal qualities:

Entry requirements:





  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above and


  • 2x A Levels (1 including Maths, Economics or ICT), or


  • An International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT, or


  • A Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject, or


  • A BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits, or


  • A minimum of 15 months of experience within the last 24 months or 18 months in the last 36 months in an IT role. Specific roles that are acceptable are:






  1. Data Administrator


  2. Business Analyst




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

Working week:



40 hours per week, Shifts between 7:00am - 6:00pm.



Future prospects: 



Salary rising to £26K per annum as a qualified and approved planner on a full-time basis.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
