Description of Opportunity

PLEASE NOTE WAGE ADVERTISED IS FOR 16-17 YEAR OLDS. NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE FOR AGE IS PAID

An apprentice will need the skills to work in any area of our tearoom from the kitchen to front of house.

In the kitchen you will learnt how to prepare light snacks hot and cold food, afternoon teas and desserts. As well as preparing the food you will also learn how we present the food on the plate or afternoon tea stand before it goes out to the customer. To work in the kitchen you will also need to consider hygiene methods we use to clean all the equipment and cross infection issues and how to adhere to them.

Working front of house involves a high level of customer care skills to ensure our customers have an enjoyable experience from the moment they enter the tearoom to the moment they leave. Your duties will include serving customers at the till, serving customers their food, preparing a variety of beverages, clearing tables problem solving and on occasions dealing with difficult customers. Being front of house requires all staff to wear a smile regardless of the situation providing customers with a welcoming and positive environment at all times. Nothing is ever to much for our customers.

General house keeping is part and parcel of any hospitality environment. You will be required to undertake all aspects of cleaning from washing up, clearing and cleaning tables to moping the floors at the end of the day.

This role will also require you to adhere to cross infection guidelines at all times

Our tearoom is open 7 days a week from 10.00-15.00 at the moment although these times may change

throughout the year. Your day will usually start 30 minutes before we open and ending 30 minutes after we close. Depending on our opening and closing times at the time you may work an 7.5 hour shift one day and then a 5 hour shift the next.

Our tearoom has a small team of staff all working towards the same goal and our motto is to provide a friendly and relaxed but efficient working environment At the end of your course and successful completion of your qualifications you may be offered employment within the tearoom.
