Description
As a chef
apprentice, you will learn all stages of food production, including butchery
and fish preparation skills, as well as dessert and pastry making. The Head
Chef is a Rosette awarded chef who loves teaching and developing young chefs.
The kitchen is a
busy operation offering food service to Golf Club Members, Hotel Guests and
Visitors, as well as catering services to small and large functions. We are
delivering high-quality food prepared from scratch by our team of talented
chefs.
Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and
cooking of menu items as directed by the Sous Chef and/or Executive Head Chef
·
Assist in the development and
planning of menus, including identifying future food trends and displaying a
passionate approach towards the development of new styles of service and
concepts
·
Assist with stock-taking, when
required
·
Contribute towards the smooth
and efficient running of the kitchen-Client Service
·
Ensure that customers are given prompt and efficient service and expectations are consistently exceeded
·
Be customer focused at all
times; approachable and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling customer
needs
People
·
Assist team members when
required Financial Management
·
Gain an understanding of food
costing, sales mix, and menu planning
·
Ensure stock, deliveries and
wastage are all checked and recorded in line with company and food standards
·
Adhere to the company’s Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and
Environmental policies at all times

- Secondary education - food-related qualifications would be an advantage.
- Previous cooking experience would be beneficial.
- Previous experience working in a kitchen/with chefs would be beneficial.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene.
Full government recognised
qualifications will be achieved and also full hygiene and health and safety
qualifications with certificates achieved.

The future prospects of the apprentice is a full-time
job within the Harvey’s Golf Team with higher the national wage payments.
