We are searching for a highly motivated individual to work as part of our growing team. 



You’ll train alongside experienced professionals collecting, organising, and studying data to provide insights to the organisation. 



You will be involved with managing, cleansing, abstracting and aggregating data, and conducting a range of analyses, all as part of Be the Business’s mission to better understand and support small businesses in the UK. 



Main role / Responsibilities: 



The apprentice will acquire, cleanse and interpret data from a range of different sources to support evidence-based decision making. 



Other duties include: 





  • Work with colleagues from across the organisation to identify reporting needs and opportunities to add valuable insights. 


  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards, reports and other visualisations to improve understanding and drive performance improvements. 


  • Identify trends in complex data sets, conducting a range of statistical analyses. 


  • Develop and implement databases and systems of data collection to enhance reporting capabilities, and data accuracy. 


  • Present analyses, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders across the business, working with both technical and non-technical audiences. 




Desirable skills: 





  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. 


  • Good problem solving, analytical and numerical skills. 


  • Knowledge of running SQL queries on data tables. 


  • Knowledge of analytical coding languages such as Python or R. 


  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods (Regression, Classification, etc.)


  • Knowledge of and ability to use Analytics tools such as Google. 


  • Ability to tell stories with data visualisation with some awareness of using software such as Tableau or PowerBI. 




Desirable, but not essential experience: 





  • Knowledge of programming principles and ubiquitous development languages (Python, Java, ASP.Net, Azure or AWS).


  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar relational model type visualisation tools.


  • A good understanding of systems and data architecture and potentially familiar with database engines such as MySQL or Postrgres.


  • Familiarity with GIT-hub.


  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and ability to visualise data.


  • Can write SQL queries to prepare and clean data for analysis.


  • Experience with common data science packages in python such as numpy, pandas, scikitlearn.


  • Experience of working in various size development teams.


  • Aware of agile principles and associated work methods (e.g. sprints, scrums, etc).




Entry requirements: 





  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above and


  • 2x A Levels (1 including Maths, Economics or ICT), or


  • An International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT, or


  • A Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject, or


  • A BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits, or


  • A minimum of 15 months of experience within the last 24 months or 18 months in the last 36 months in an IT role.




Specific roles that are acceptable are:





  1. Data Administrator 


  2. Business Analyst 




You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. 



If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
