Description

You will be responsible for overseeing a range of tasks, providing finance support to the local and regional finance teams and wider business. Tasks will include (although not limited to) data integrity checks, variance analysis, journal entries, payment processing, report preparation and month, quarter & year end close assistance.

You will be on rotation throughout our three main finance functions (Controllership, FP&A and Commercial) to enable you get the best possible experience and build your knowledge across different areas of finance. In addition, you will be expected to complete your AAT qualification (up to Level 4) and will receive allocated study days/time to assist with this. In addition, there will be progression opportunities to further study (ACCA/CIMA/ACA – Level 7) for the right candidate.

Key Role Responsibilities – Commercial/FP&A

· Support commercial finance leader during biweekly forecast calls with global sales leaders

· Prepare the weekly orders forecast file and commentary

· Run and distribute backlog reports

· Commercial orders reconciliation (Deal Machine and Oracle)

· Support commercial finance leader during the financial quarter close

· Support commercial team during the medium range planning cycle: consolidating submissions and assist with preparation of regional presentations

· Base cost analysis; reconciliation of budget v actual spend and investigation into variance drivers

· Set up technology project codes and task structures in Oracle

· Input labour rates for new starters

· Regular download and import of cost models into central database

· Maintenance and distribution of key financial models, reports and data.

Key Role Responsibilities - Controllership:

· Timely and accurate cash allocation in system

· Support collection of receivables; prepare and circulate past due reporting

· Collate documentation to complete revenue recognition requirements

· Monitor timesheet submissions and approvals

· Raise monthly intercompany invoices between legal entities

· Perform month end close activities, including journal postings

· Support with audit requests and data gathering

Foundation Certificate - AAT Level 2

Foundation covers the basic principles of accountancy, and is your starting point if you’ve never studied accountancy before. You’ll learn the basic principles of accountancy, such as double-entry bookkeeping, costing and preparing financial statements, as well as how to use accountancy software.


This level is ideal if you’re new to accountancy and finance, have previously worked in an accounts department, or are looking to change your career into accountancy.


To pass this level, you'll be examined on five units (also known as subjects), of which one includes the synoptic assessment. This tests the knowledge you have gained throughout the level, covering multiple (but not all) units. All assessments are computer-based exams (CBE).


The area you will cover include:

  • Bookkeeping transactions

  • Bookkeeping controls

  • Elements of costing

  • Using accounting software

  • Foundation Synoptic Assessment


The Apprenticeship standard details the essential Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours that somebody would need to demonstrate to be a successful Accounts/Finance Assistant, this includes, General Business, Ethical Standards, Communication, Attention to Detail and Professionalism. Apprentices will need to show they are competent in all the areas detailed in the standard when they take End Point Assessment.


The Knowledge areas of the standard will be covered through completion of the AAT qualification. Skills and Behaviours are developed through workshops, e-learning, workplace training and practical experience provided ‘on-the-job’.
